Using the Conflicting Check-in Detector

When using attendance tracking with multiple concurrent sessions, it is possible that attendees can be checked into more than one session at a time. Using Conflicting Check-in Detector, identify these cases and ensure that credits issued are accurate and appropriate.

Conflicting Check-ins explained

Conflicting check-ins are situations where it would not be possible for an attendee to have attended both sessions at the same time. Consider two sessions that overlap by 30 minutes:

In these sessions, an attendee could not be physically in both locations simultaneously for a live event or joined to multiple teleconference meetings for a virtual event. As a result, it should be impossible to receive full credit for attendance in both sessions. Conflicting Check-in Detector identifies these constraints so that attendance reconciliation and auditing is simplified for administrators.

Detection process

The detector looks for multiple check-ins from the same email address in sessions that:

  • are active, not archived
  • have a valid date, start time, and end time
  • mark the attendee as eligible for a non-zero number of credits

Detect conflicting check-ins

  1. Sign-in to the Admin panel
  2. Archive any sessions that do not need to be checked
  3. Under Attendance Tracking, click Combined Attendance & Multi-Session Certificates

  4. Click Start Conflicting Check-In Detection in the right toolbar

  5. Allow the detector some time to analyze all of the check-ins for the session
  6. Review the list of conflicts

  7. To remove a check-in, click Manage next to the session, then either click Remove to remove the check-in or Change to mark the check-in as ineligible for credit

  8. Repeat for all other attendees
