How to Unlock Evaluation Questions
Overview: How Session Evaluations Work
- Admins can create a global set of evaluation questions that applies to all sessions.
Individual evaluation questions can be configured to repeat for each presenter or for each learning objective within a single session.
Evaluations can be set to automatically unlock by using a live content slide or based on the session’s scheduled end time; or the evaluation questions can be manually unlocked by an admin or moderator, within the session settings.

Types of questions
-
Rating
- Looks like a multiple‑choice list but is numeric and auto‑averages in exports.
- Up to 12 choices; you can use any numeric scale, in any order, and each value must have a label.
-
Multiple Choice
- Up to 15 options; configure as single‑select or multi‑select (“check all that apply”).
- Displays as a vertical list of options.
-
Short Answer
- One‑line free text, no hard character limit but ideal for answers with only a few words.
-
Long Answer
- Multi‑line free text, questions prompting more than a few words.
Other Question Options
- Multi-Presenter: repeats the question for each instructor automatically
- Multi-Objective: repeats the question for each learning objective automatically
- Not Applicable Option: allows attendees to skip a question for Rating and Multiple-Choice questions.
Note: If using Attendee Identification Fields or Attendance Tracking, evaluations will, by default, show the attendee’s information. To keep responses anonymous in evaluation reports, disable the “Identifying Information” as outlined here: Learn More about removing attendee information from evaluations here.

Three Options to Unlock the Session Evaluations
1) Automatically Unlock Based on a Session’s End Time (recommended for best response rates)
Schedule evaluation questions to automatically unlock before or right at the session’s end time.
Note: Your session must have a start and end time, and those times must correlate to the URL’s global time zone.
How to schedule evaluations to automatically unlock (Admins Only):
- Sign in as an Admin
- Under Session Evaluations, select Change Evaluation Settings.
- Choose the desired relative unlock time (e.g., “Open 5 minutes before end”).
- Save Changes.
Note: This setting is global (applies to all sessions with end times), and you can manually unlock if needed
2) Automatically Unlock Using a Live Content slide (opens from your deck, with QR code)
Use the Session eval live content slide in your PowerPoint/Keynote/Google Slides deck to unlock the evaluation questions when the presenter navigates to that slide.
Note: Ensure the presenting computer has the add‑in/extension installed (links for the Windows, Mac, or the Conferences i/o Chrome extension + Google Slides add‑on).
How to add the live content slide & unlock evaluations (Moderator):
- Session Settings → Add Live Content → Download All Live Content Slides.
- Drag the Session Evaluation slide into your deck
- Ensure the add-in is installed on the presenting and testing computer (see note above).
-
Test: Advancing to the slide starts a 10‑second timer and displays, “Session evaluation will open momentarily”. The purpose of the timer is to allow buffer time for testing that the slide is actively working without needing to automatically unlock the evaluation and then manually re-lock it.
- Accidentally let the timer run out? Go to Session Settings → Enable/Disable Features → padlock to lock the evaluation again.
3) Manually Unlock (for a single session)
If only some sessions should be evaluated—or if you need flexibility—the admin and moderators can lock/unlock evaluations from within a session.
How to manually unlock evaluations in one session (Moderator):
- Sign in to the specific session as a Moderator.
- Go to Session Settings → Enable/Disable Features.
- Click the padlock for Session Evaluation to open it.
- When unlocked, attendees see an “Evaluate this Session” button on their devices.
