Proration
Proration is assigned by the jurisdiction regulator. This article explains how proration displays on the user Compliance page.
How proration works
When a regulator exempts a new licensee from CPE credit requirements for a set period after initial licensure you will see the requirements in each impacted requirement and sub-requirement as a fraction where the first number is 0 and the denominator is listed as the standard requirement.
Example
| Requirement | Credits | Exemption period | Compliance Display |
|---|---|---|---|
| Annual | 20 | First year of licensure | 0/20 |
| Total (reporting period) | 120 | First three years of licensure | 0/120 |
Suppose a new licensee is licensed in 2026:
- Annual requirement (20 credits): Exempt through 2026. Credits are required starting 1/1/2027.
- Total requirement (120 credits): Exempt through 2028. Credits are required starting 1/1/2029.
Where to see proration in LCvista
When proration applies, the jurisdiction’s credit requirements are reduced, and a note shows how many credits were removed because of proration.
To see when a new licensee’s requirements begin, use the drop-down to view future reporting periods. Each requirement shows the date its credits start.
